A Christmas tale

When we were kids there was the tree and to be honest I can’t really remember anything else but for all the cards.
When I left home I didn’t bother to decorate for Xmas at all, what was the point I was out partying all the time.
Then one year my then flatmate decorated, bought a tree and everything but our flat was tiny and while it was lovely it was impractical and trying to find your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night and having to negotiate a tree was interesting to say the least.
Then I moved in with the former him indoors and we didn’t really bother. No tree and if my nephews were coming round I would stick the few baubles I had found in a cupboard to a shelf. I know it sounds horrendous doesn't it!

Then big one was born so I thought we'd better actually decorate this year. So a tree was bought and we duly stuck it in the corner of the room with the usual tinsel and whatnot.
Over the years the decorations have spread a little, we now have 3 trees and a garland that wraps its way up the bannister on the stairs and lots of nick nacks for the mantlepiece.
Last year I had a poorly wee one home just before Xmas and we sat and made lots and lots of snowflakes that I strung together and we hung in the windows. They looked so pretty that I fully intend to do this again and hopefully it will become a new family tradition.
We also made a gingerbread garland that was hung in the hall, wee one had great fun sticking on eyes and drawing fun faces. There was even a cylops gingerbread man.
But still the decorations are pretty much confined to the lounge and hallways.

But not this year, this year I want to turn this house into THE Christmas house. Snowmen in the bathrooms, baubles in the kitchen. This year the smalls will have a house FULL of Xmas and hopefully we’ll have fun making some new decorations.
